It’s just east of Detroit and is known for its incredible walleye, musky and salmon fishing. Clair borders northeastern Michigan and Ontario, Canada.

The following waters are just the ticket. Smallies are the perfect bass to target when looking for an epic fight and a high catch rate. Clair, and the Detroit River for nonstop smallmouth action. Set your sights on places like Lake Michigan, Lake St. Michigan is truly an amazing angling destination. The rivers and lakes are teeming with smallies, and you might pull a largemouth out of the same spot you just caught a smallmouth. Not to say you won’t find largies in the north, just not as many. Smallmouth bass is the dominant species in northern Michigan, while largemouths are more prevalent in the southern part of the state. If you’re looking for a high number of big fish, Michigan is the place. Lakes Michigan, Erie, and Huron all border the state, along with some of the best inland water in the country. Most lakes and rivers here hold at least a few, but some offer epic bronzeback fishing. With so many options, narrowing down the best smallmouth bass fishing waters in Michigan can be challenging. Looking forward to eharing what you guys have to say! I'm mostly curious about bait, lures and hook sizes, as that's what I seem to hear the most variation in online.Michigan has over 10,000 lakes and rivers to explore. Unfortunately, as you know, I've got limited tackle and rod room (Currently limited to 3 rods until I get some more money).

But I figured this would be a really neat trip. Right now my max fish weight is 13 lbs, so I may have to hold off until level 24 for some monsters. I'm mostly interested in the larger stuff - Gars, Bass, Drum, Tarpon and those bigger cats. I know this is open ended, but what kinds of tackle should I be taking there in order to make the most of my time? I'd like to try and stay for a few days to make some money back and level up, but usually my first trip to a location is a bust, and I'm saving up for a kayak and would rather not waste the money. I'm a level 20 angler looking to make my way to the Everglades for fishing here on FP for the first time. I've a not-so quick question for you all.
